Today I decided to take a list of 33 names for a nearby cemetery to fulfill some photo requests of tombstones.  Sadly, I could only locate 3.

The cemetery wasn’t big, however it was very old and therefore, run down.  Numerous stones were leaning forward, nearly touching the ground, so you couldn’t read them.  Others were broken off, their pieces either lying in front or behind, most face down and partially enveloped in the ground.  Most of the really old ones, with dates of death before 1800, were unreadable; the inscriptions long gone as a result of years of attack by Mother Nature.

If you would like to get more exercise and do a good deed for another genealogist, I strongly support signing up at Find A Grave and photograph tombstones in your local cemeteries.
